Cleanaway sells high-profile Melbourne tip
EXCLUSIVE

Cleanaway has sold a high profile Melbourne tip, closed for toxic waste in 2008 after 30 years and now remediated.
Sydney based asset manager Wentworth Capital is the buyer of 206-300 Western Avenue, Melbourne Airport.
The 9.5 hectare parcel, also exposed to the Tullamarine Freeway, opposite the 2741ha Melbourne Airport, is set for a business park.
CBRE’s Andrew Bell, Chris O’Brien and Daniel Eramo were the agents.
The deal for what has in recent years been known as the Cleanaway Tullamarine Solid Waste Depot comes seven years since Cleanaway sold a neighbouring 41ha parcel to MAB which is also replacing it with an industrial estate – Haystone.
Cleanaway and MAB sought for years to have the land rezoned: once a toxic waste tip and buffer zone to nearby homes – and with groundwater said to be contaminated in part to a depth of 15-25 metres – the City of Hume rejected all applications.

Planning minister Sonya Kilkenny last year approved it.
The deal comes a year since Troon Group with MaxCap Group acquired a former tip across town also with plans for industrial.
That site, spreading 10.5ha, cost $26.3m.
More to come.
