Zimbler toy factory sells off-market

The Thornbury property sold for $4.15 million.

An inner-city Melbourne factory for years occupied by toy maker and distributor Zimbler as its local headquarters has sold off-market.

Zimbler is behind Scalextric alternative Carrera.

The c3000 square metre Industrial 1 holding across four titles covering 369-371 Rossmoyne Street, Thornbury, fetched $4,152,500.

A clear span warehouse with a 7.5 metre clearance is accessed from four roller shutter doors.

The site is also exposed to Mansfield St.

GrayJohnson’s Matt Hoath was the agent.

“This result reinforces the efficiency of a discrete, targeted approach,” he said.

“By connecting a versatile, tenanted asset directly with qualified investors, we were able to achieve a premium outcome for our vendor while bypassing the need for a traditional public campaign,” he added.

Zimbler is behind brands including slot-car racer Carrera, Bachmann and Woodland Scenic (continues below).

Another Melbourne toy factory deal

The Thornbury deal comes a month since we reported a Dandenong South warehouse leased to Headstart International traded for $10.65m.

Established in 2007 by ex-Funtastic founder David Hendy and son Andrew, Headstart is behind brands including Cubeez and Ooshies.

Moose Toys founder Manny Stul also sold the ex-Moose Toys headquarters in 2024.

That property is in Bentleigh East.
