Williamstown’s Gasometer Site Sells After Two Years

It’s the latest central Williamstown site to sell since June, when private investors paid close to $10 million for a collection of adjoining shops with redevelopment potential on the north-east corner of Douglas Parade and Ferguson Street (both major retail thoroughfares in the area).

David Loweinstein, of Century 21 Wilson Pride in Prahran marketed the Stevedore Street site for receivers. The property has been on the market for about two years.

Across town in Hawthorn East earlier this year, retail giant and developer Woolworths paid Leighton Properties $21.93 million for the three-hectare former Gas & Fuel Corporation’s Tooronga gasometer at 742 Toorak Road.
