Vacant Eastwood bowls club sells for $10m

The 9936 square metre Eastwood block was expected to sell to a developer.

The former Brush Park Bowling Club, in Eastwood, has sold for $10 million to an as yet undisclosed community group.

The 9936 square metre site, 77 Rutledge Street, at the north east corner of Marsden Road, ceased operating as a sporting venue in late 2019 after over 60 years.

It was expected to sell to a residential developer.

Ray White’s Nathan Circosta and Peter Gow said eight parties contested for the licensed venue at auction earlier this month.

The Brush Park club amalgamated with Carlingford (story continues below).

Changing demographics and declining membership have resulted in close to 100 suburban Sydney sporting facilities merging or closing in the past 10 years, the agents said upon listing.

More to come.
