Stu Horner buys Lismore pub, bottle shop
A fortnight since selling an interest in Rockhampton’s Gracemere Hotel, Stuart Horner has bought Lismore’s Goonellabah Tavern, commonly known as the G’Bah.

The former O’Hara Group regional manager is paying John Schlederer a speculated $32 million for the freehold going concern, recently known as the Hilltop Tavern.
Developed in 1972 on 9100 square metres at 747 Ballina Road, the property includes a bar, bistro, three room motel and gaming room with 30 electronic gambling machines.
It is licensed to trade until 3am.
There is also a drive thru bottle shop and large customer car park.
“The hotel is located amidst a large catchment of customers with virtually no immediate competition from other pubs,” HTL Property’s Blake Edwards and Andrew Jolliffe, who brokered the off-market deal, said.
“After a sound 2023 and 2024, sale prices for pubs in regional NSW reached a new zenith this year, eclipsing even that of the previous highs made around the middle of 2022” they added.
No competition: agents
Mr Schlederer held the Goonellabah Tavern eight years.
The disposal comes a month since he sold the Henry Rous Tavern, at 177 River St, Ballina, to Nathan Dawes’ Gateway Hotel Group.
He retains Murwillumbah’s Riverview Hotel.
Gracemere Hotel traded for a speculated $24m.
The vendors offloaded after two years.
The buyer is CQ Hotel Group, established by Anthony Fargas in 2010.
Goonellabah is about three kilometres east of Lismore’s CBD.
With a greater population of c44,000, Lismore is 45 kilometres south west of Byron Bay.
