Social club sells surplus land to developer

Maximise recently bought a prominent Melton site for industrial and retail.

The Anzano Social Club has sold surplus land behind its Melbourne base to developer, Maximise.

The Club Tivoli sold earlier this year for $17.325 million including GST.

The 2.8 hectare tract – now known as 11 Pallarang Way, Truganina (pictured, top) – is earmarked for 85 office/warehouses.

Construction will begin this quarter.

The two-lot subdivision from 191 Leakes Road – an address the Anzano Social Club will retain, now on 2.75 hectares – took two years to negotiate with Wydham City Council, a Maximise spokesperson said.

There were also stormwater compliance requirements.

The deal comes five months since German association Tivoli-Deutscher Verain, Victoria’s oldest ethnic club, divested its Prahran base, the Club Tivoli, but to a residential developer.

The Greek Club Palesviaki Enosis bought an Oakleigh office in March.

Also in March, the Greek Club Palesviaki Enosis outlaid $4m for an Oakleigh office it planned to occupy as a social club.

That not-for-profit banked $6.8m early last year selling its long-time Bayswater base, the Lesvos Centre Club, like Truganina, with significant surplus land.

That property was also marketed to residential builders.
