SKS buys ex-Singapore Airlines HQ

Singapore Airlines sold 178 St Georges Terrace in 2007.

SKS Group has picked up Perth’s ex-Singapore Airlines House which hit the market six months ago vacant.

The local developer and investment house – founded in Malaysia in 1983, now based in Burswood – paid $9.5 million for the office marketed for its development upside.

Completed 60 years ago, refurbished in the 1990s, at 178 St Georges Terrace, it contains 3207 square metres over nine floors, with 10 basement car parks.

The site spreads 560 sqm also exposed to a right of way.

The deal comes a fortnight since we reported SKS bought Crawley’s Kings View apartment complex to refurbish and sell down.

That building rises 10 levels on a 1463 sqm waterfront block (continues below).

SKS recently bought a Crawley apartment complex to sell revamp.

178 St Georges Terrace

Singapore Airlines owned 178 St Georges Tce until 2007.

With a side-core allowing 350 sqm floorplates, it was marketed for its efficient development upside – be it for commercial or residential use.

“The building is surrounded by multiple nearby properties which have completed or are scheduled to undergo significant upgrades including 168, 179, 181,182, 186, and 190 St Georges Tce making this western end of the terrace a focal point of refurbishment activity,” JLL agents, Sean Flynn and Nigel Freshwater, said. Williams Property Advisory’s John Williams also represented the vendor, a local family.
