Simonds College expands West Melbourne campus

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools has swooped on a West Melbourne office abutting a Simonds Catholic College campus.

The three storey property, 52-58 Chetwynd Street, is understood to be costing c$10 million but this couldn’t be confirmed.

The vendor, another school, Southern Cross Education Institute, was represented by NSL Property Group’s Guy Naselli.

Simonds operates an amalgamation of neighbouring sites for its junior school.

The new building will offer 1455 square metres of classroom space and six car parks (story continues below).

Haileybury recently paid $7.1 million for a Dudley Street building to expand its West Melbourne campus.

It also expands the college’s footprint by 1000 sqm.

Elsewhere in the area, last year, Haileybury paid $7.1m for the ex-Mushroom Music headquarters at 27-31 Dudley St with plans to expands its city campus, opposite Flagstaff Gardens.

Earlier this month we reported Penleigh & Essendon Grammar outlaid c$14m for a warehouse abutting its sports field, part of MAB’s Translink industrial estate, at Keilor Park.
