Sherbet Bomb creator shuts after 95 years, sells shop
Sherbet Bomb creator Lagoon Confectioners has shut after 95 years and sold its most recent headquarters, manufacturing plant and distribution centre.
The Williamstown North property, 16-18 Akuna Drive, collected $5.215 million from another owner-occupier.

With a 1212 square metre improvement covering 38 per cent of the 3732 sqm Industrial 1 zoned site, the asset has development upside.
“From a backyard shed to producing up to two tonnes of lollies a day, it’s be a true Aussie success story which CBRE were proud to have played a small part in assisting in closing this historic chapter for the family,” agents Cameron Giles, Matthew Romanin, Lachlan May and Charlie Betts, said.
Lagoon sold the Sherbet Bomb business last July to Darrell Lea – which moved production.
The Williamstown North deal comes 13 months since the owner of Mr Donut, created 1979, sold that business’ outgoing manufacturing plant, in Mordialloc.
That buyer was Abacus Storage King, also to occupy.

The result was $13m.

Last week meanwhile we reported the long-time family owners of Porta Mouldings sold its base of over 50 years, in Fairfield, to Cedar Woods.
In 2023, Bega Cheese offloaded the Fishermans Bend, Port Melbourne, factory Vegemite is made, to Charter Hall.
Coincidentally two years earlier, Patties sold the same asset manager two factories where Four N’ Twenty pies are made, in Bairnsdale, and Melbourne’s south east Pakenham.
