Recently retired Hawthorn footballer Shane Crawford is understood to have paid $3.05 million for a Brighton estate dubbed “the paddock” by locals because of its land size – 1477 square metres.

The AFL Premiership player is believed will fully renovate a three bedroom Victorian on the St Andrews Street block.

It is also speculated he might build a tennis court and pool.

The property is midway between retail strips at Bay and Church streets, private schools and the beach (story continues below).
