Second Sydney Airport Mooted For Former Richmond RAAF Site

Richmond is an outer north-western suburb of Sydney, and is closer to the major commercial hubs Penrith and Parramatta, than it is to Sydney.

The Board of Airline Representatives told the Sydney Morning Herald: “The airport must be located as near as possible to [the Sydney] market to, firstly, meet passenger demands and, secondly, to minimise the cost of the required transport.

An airport at Richmond, would be about 62 kilometres, or up to an hour away from central Sydney, possibly more in traffic.
