New university signs Adelaide’s biggest office lease this year

Adelaide University, set to open next year, has leased within the Optus Centre.

The new Adelaide University has signed another major lease deal, this time for an office once owned by Dexus, at 106-114 North Terrace.

The research house, established last year by the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia, has signed up for 9500 square metres – five floors – for an initial five years.

The space will accommodate administration and vice chancellor offices.

With the deal, 90 per cent of the 12 level, 20,888 sqm building, also known as the Optus Centre and by the street address 108 North Tce, is full.

Some 12,000 sqm of the A-grade office has been filled since mid-2023.

Savills was the marketing agency. This is the CBD’s biggest office lease deal this year.

Dexus sold the asset for $86.5m in 2016.

Adelaide University’s main campus will be within the Adelaide BioMed City complex, at the city’s Lot Fourteen project, taking shape in stages.

The school is set to formally open January.
