New Luxury Resort Planned For Fire Ravaged Kinglake Site
Local developer Bruce Thomas says he wants to start construction of the resort within three months. It is penclled for a site at Pheasant Creek, on Whittlesea Kinglake Road. Part of the property was affected by bushfires on February 7, 2009.
"This is a major step in the regeneration of Kinglake," the local developer told the Herald Sun newspaper, who described the Global Financial Crisis, then the bushfires, as delivering a "double whack" of bad news for the township.
The resort, which will include conference facilities and a swimming pool as well as luxury cabin suites, is expected to create 80 jobs, of which 30 will be full-time.
