McDonald’s starts work on Northcote outlet
McDonald’s has begun construction of its Northcote store, three months after it was approved by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
The outlet at 321-325 High Street is expected to open next quarter.
Over $5 million is being spent on the refurbishment; set to trade 24 hours, the restaurant will include a McCafé and outdoor dining area.
For decades prior to 2019 the property accommodated the Stuzzi restaurant.
It contains 586 square metres on a 769 sqm site and last sold for $2.5m in 2006.

Despite a City of Darebin refusal, VCAT said another restaurant at the site is an acceptable planning outcome (continues below).
The franchise will be operated by James O’Rourke, who started with the company as a crew member more than 47 years ago and now oversees five Melbourne restaurants employing about 450 people.
The deal comes seven months since realestatesource.com.au reported a McDonald’s opened in Puckle St, Moonee Ponds, after a three decade hiatus.
That restaurant replaced an ex-Bank of Melbourne.
The Northcote property previously traded as The Pavilion.
