Malouf family buy hotel once owned by John Singleton and Geoff Dixon

Royal Hotels, which is owned by the Malouf family, has acquired Sydney’s Bellevue Hotel.

The historic Woollahra property (pictured top and left) has traded three times in the past eight years.

In 2014, the venue was offloaded by media executive John Singleton and ex-Qantas CEO Geoff Dixon for a reported price of more than $5 million.

The purchaser at the time, WDS Hotels, undertook a renovation prior to offering the holding off-market this year. The Pubtic website is speculating in this item that the sale price this time around is about $6.5 million.

WDS Hotels director, Steven Speed, told Australian Hotelier, which is also reporting the latest sale, that following the Bellevue’s repositioning, it “formed a decision to focus on our existing portfolio, which includes the Fortunes of War Hotel, and in doing so to recycle the capital into another opportunity we are considering”.
