Luxury car dealer outbids developers for inner-city site

The property (marked) is a kilometre from the CBD.

Luxury car dealer Srecko Lorbek has snapped up a prominent inner-city site for a showroom.

The recently vacated Beaurepaires at 162-174 Coventry Street, on the north west corner of Kings Way, South Melbourne, is believed to be trading for just over $6 million including GST.

Passed by some 30 million vehicles a year, zoned Mixed Use, also facing a laneway, the 763 square metre site was marketed for its development upside – up to 10 floors.

The tyre retailer – Australia’s biggest – quit after 30 years.

Stonebridge’s Dylan Kilner, Rorey James and Chao Zhang with Premier’s Jason Perry sourced Sydney based Mr Lorbek (story continues below).

Elsewhere in Melbourne, Lorbek has a major dealership in Prohasky Street, Port Melbourne – at a West Gate Freeway interchange.

The Coventry St showroom is set to be fit out for electric vehicles.
