Laundy family snap up historic Sydney pub

Real IS just bought an office opposite the Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel.

Blair Hayden has sold Sydney’s oldest continually licensed hotel – The Rocks’ Lord Nelson Brewery – after 38 years.

Also said to contain the country’s oldest independent craft beer brewery, which Mr Hayden created, the four floor pub at 19 Kent Street, on the north west corner of Argyle, is trading for about $20 million to veteran Arthur Laundy and family.

Three Sheets Pale Ale is produced from the property.

Income is also derived from a semi-basement bar, ground storey restaurant and, on the top floors, nine accommodation suites.

“The Laundy Group is not only well positioned to operate the pub, but its ability to expand the esteemed beer brand is evident through their large-scale brewery in Marsden Park,” JLL selling agent, Kate MacDonald, said (story continues below).

Settlement is scheduled in two months.

Last week Lord Nelson Brewery sells after 38 years an office in the immediate area – at Millers Point, traded to German fund manager Real IS.
