Jim Knox acquires Whitebull Hotel

Guyra grazier and hotelier Jim Knox has acquired another regional pub.

The Whitebull Hotel in Armidale is costing $13.25 million from Pat and Karen Gurr.

The price, the marketing agents said, is a record high for the area.

At 117 Marsh Street, the asset includes 17 electronic gambling machines and a convenience retail component.

In May, Mr Knox acquired the Grafton Hotel from the Dougherty family, which had held it 41 years.

Two years ago, the investor paid a syndicate including Australian Hotels Association delegate James Torresan $8m for The Area Hotel, in Griffith (story continues below).

HTL Property’s Blake Edward brokered the Whitebull Hotel deal off-market.

“A rewarding part of this particular sale process is that Pat and Karen’s two sons, Ben and Tom, will stay on in the business and help drive the best outcomes for the new owner,” the agent said.

“This is clearly not a typical outcome, but is one that best illustrates the quality of people involved in the transaction,” according to the executive.
