Jati rents Brunswick warehouse until recently earmarked for a cinema

Jati – established in a Canterbury garage 36 years ago by a teacher who manufactured outdoor teak furniture on weekends and is now one of the country’s largest suppliers of this product – has leased a Brunswick showroom/warehouse until recently mooted for a cinema.
The renovated 1165 square metre building at 1-5 Weston Street, opposite ISPT’s Barkly Square shopping centre, was committed for an initial two years.
The rent is speculated to be about $130 per square metre, per annum, gross.
NSL’s Guy Naselli and JLL’s Arthur Vainbrant represented the landlord who paid $6.15m for the asset last June.
That vendor, Eddie Tamir, had earmarked the site for a major cinema after acquiring it for $7.98 in July, 2018 (story continues below).
The property abuts a laneway and has rear Edward St access.
Jati will continue to trade from a showroom at 309 Swan St, Richmond, in Melbourne’s inner-east.
The business also has a Sydney store at Artarmon.
