Ipswich social housing project fast tracked

The proposed Ipswich tower will contain 58 dwellings.
Construction of the Ipswich building should start this year.

A seven level social housing complex has been approved in four months – the first project permitted under the state government’s Ministerial Infrastructure Designation process, which aims to streamline planning decisions.

Community Housing Limited is behind the 58 unit proposal at 19 McEwan Street, Riverview, east of Ipswich.

Beside the train station, the site spreads 1.8 hectares near a block being replaced with two storey townhouses.

MID approved the application three days after the close of a community consultation period; CHL was represented by Human Habitats.

Construction is expected to start this year.

Riverview is about 30 kilometres south west of Brisbane’s CBD.
