GPT fills more of CBD building under construction
The GPT Group has filled more of the two tower 51 Flinders Lane office complex, under construction in Melbourne’s CBD.
In the highest profile deal, Robin Khuda’s Airtrunk – since late last year owed by Blackstone and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board – has leased 1925 square metres being the top three floors (37, 38 and 39), of the taller South Tower, which faces Flinders Street.
It will be the data centre developer’s maiden Melbourne office.
Until construction is complete at the end of next year, the business will move into the neighbouring 8 Exhibition St, also owned by GPT in a 50:50 partnership with Keppel REIT.
Meanwhile, commercial real estate insurer FM has leased 2025 sqm over three levels, again in the South building.
GPT also secured financial adviser Koda Capital for 600 sqm.
The deals come five months since the first tenant committed to the complex – 4500 sqm across six storeys.
51 Flinders lane will contain 29,200 sqm of offices.
The other tower will rise 14 levels.
The development will also contain 900 sqm of retail.
GPT started construction in October, 2023.
It paid Dexus $87.1m for the 2087 sqm site – a former multi-level car park – in mid-2018.
