Government appoints developer for $100m project

The project will contain 27 apartments.

The Crisafulli government has appointed Ignite Projects to develop a gateway Gold Coast site, at The Spit.

Branded The Isles, the $100 million project (artist’s impression, top) will include an 18-berth marina, food and drink precinct and 27-unit apartment block.

A playground with public seating, walk and cycle track will also be built – at an estimated $2.7m cost.

It is the third project approved following the implementation of The Spit Master Plan.

The others – Mantaray, which is under construction, and the Peter’s Fish Market – where building is set to start this quarter – will be delivered by Gordon Corporation.

The Isles

At the southern end of The Spit, neighbouring Seaworld, Ignite’s proposal will now need to be approved by the City of Gold Coast council.

Ignite hopes to build The Isles next year.

Contreras Earl Architecture penned it.

Construction is hoped to begin next year.

The project will also include a car park.

The Spit is about eight kilometres north of Surfers Paradise.
