Glenn Piper boosts pub portfolio
Glenn Piper has added another regional New South Wales pub to his book.

The Bermagui Beach Hotel and neighbouring Beachview Motel freehold going concerns, on the Sapphire Coast, cost $20 million following an off-market deal.
The vendor was the operator Yannis Gantner, who with wife Claire ran the venue, with a pub, bistro, gaming room with 12 electronic gambling machines and 18-room hotel, since 2017.
The freehold previously traded to the Gantners two years earlier, for $4m.
Mr Piper’s Epochal Hotels now controls 10 assets worth a total over $200m.
Another regional NSW pub, the Scarborough Hotel, is presently being refurbished – as are two Sydney venues, The Commodore Hotel, acquired in 2023, and Q-Station, bought four years ago.
Hook Island on the Whitsundays, which the executive bought the leasehold of in 2022, is also set to open soon, as an eco-retreat.
Revamp planned with extra seating
A “light enhancements” refurbishment is now planned for the Bermagui Beach Hotel, which overlooks Horseshoe Bay Beach.
The seating capacity will also be extended.

“There’s a magnetic energy in Bermagui – it’s one of those rare places that captures your heart the moment you arrive,” Mr Piper said.
“We’ve fallen in love with the town and its community, and we’re honoured to continue the legacy that Yannis has cultivated so thoughtfully,” according to the executive.
Mr Gantner – the grandson of Sir Sidney and Merlyn Myer’s daughter, Neilma, who died at Bermagui a decade ago, 92 – added “growing the Bermagui Beach Hotel over the past eight years has been a real joy and privilege” but “it’s now time for me to prioritise my family and other ventures”.
JLL’s Kate MacDonald was the agent.
Also this week we are reporting Byron Bay’s Beach Hotel freehold going concern is selling to a minor shareholder in the fund which has held it since 2019.
