Late last year Deloittes issued a requirement for around 18,000 square metres, or about 6000 square metres more than it currently occupies. Sources say this requirement was put on ice, after it became clear GHD, which leases 3-levels of 180 Lonsdale Street totaling almost 6000 square metres, issued its own requirement this year for around 10,000 square metres.
Sources say GHD has looked closely at the AXA building in Docklands, which is available for occupation later this year. A spokesman for GHD said its 10,000 square metre requirement was in response to growth in the organization.
“Our preference is to stay in the premises ourselves until our lease expires in 2014,” said a spokesman. “However given the growth of the organisation, we can’t sit on our hands so we’re making the appropriate decisions.”
A spokeswoman for Deloittes said the group is still pursuing its leasing options.
