Ex-Volkswagen dealership to become COVID test site

4Cyte is paying $10,000 a month for the ex-car dealership.

4Cyte Pathology has signed a six month lease for a prominent ex-Volkswagen dealership near Westfield Doncaster.

The permitted redevelopment will contain 260 dwellings.

The 8176 square metre block at 584-588 Doncaster Road, on the south west corner of Elgar, will be a COVID test site.

Predominantly hardstand, the land, along with neighbouring 811-813 Elgar Rd and 3 Briar Court, is earmarked for a $122 million residential village with 260 dwellings; the tallest tower will rise 11 storeys.

Fitzroys’ Shawn Luo found the tenant for the owner and developer, Oliver Tong Yubin.

Following the rental agreement, the healthcare group operates 33 COVID testing sites in metropolitan Melbourne and three in regional Victoria.

Last year, we reported it leased an ex-Nurse on Call office in Bentleigh East.

Volkswagen relocated to a smaller property at 576 Doncaster Rd.
