Ex-Hawk offloads home at twilight auction

The Highett home sold against a $850,000-$950,000 guide.

Retired two time AFL premiership player Brent Guerra and his wife, Rachel, sold their Highett home at auction last night.

The rendered three bedroom Art Deco on 454 square metres at 1/9 Sandford Street fetched $1.23 million – substantially more than the $850,000-$900,000 guide.

The property previously traded for $470,000 in December, 2003 – ahead of Mr Guerra moving to the St Kilda Football Club from Port Adelaide.

Marshall White’s Matt Pillios and Samuel Jay were the agents.

Five bidders contested (story continues below).

The Sandford Road dwelling contains three bedrooms and a garage.

The winning offer came from first home buyers who will relocate from Brighton.

Mr Guerra, who intends to stay in Melbourne, moved from Port Adelaide to Hawthorn in 2005 – winning the Grand Final three years later then in 2013, the latter after which he retired.

Between 2016-2020, the sportsman held Fremantle Dockers coaching roles.
