Ex-Genius childcare centre leased in two weeks
One of the highest profile Genius Early Learning centres to close has been leased while under the control of administrators.
The 126-place facility, 910 Old Calder Highway, Keilor, at the Taylors Lakes border, found favour with a local operator for an initial 15 years.
The off-market campaign took two weeks, according to the agents, CBRE’s Sando Peluso, Marcello Caspani-Muto and Jimmy Tat, representing WLP Restructuring.
Two other businesses bid, they added.

The incoming operator also has a Kilsyth complex.
“This was a confidential process that featured three inspections within just days of receiving access to the building,” Mr Caspani-Muto said.
“There was always great opportunity here given the quality of the building and its location,” he added.
“There are only a small number of competing services in the catchment and many feature substantially older buildings,” according to the executive.
“Existing centres continue to catch the eye of operators who are highly competitive given the certainty of delivery and timeframes allowing them to better plan their business operations”.
WLP has been seeking to restructure Genius which fell into administration March – soon after it was revealed staff at this Keilor complex hadn’t been paid for weeks.
This pocket of the suburb is about 20 kilometres north west of town.
