Eltham South mansion with manege for sale

Surgeon Angus Hamer, nephew of prominent former state Liberal leader Sir Rupert – is selling a three hectare Eltham estate after 25 years.

Morrison Kleeman’s Rocco Montanaro is expecting $1.4-$1.54 million for 5 Yarra Braes Road, which includes a pool, spa, horse stables and a professional size dressage yard, or horse manege.

The dwelling contains a mud brick wing with library, wine cellar, mezzanine floor study and lounge room fitted with century old bridge timber and Jarrah floors.

Mr Hamer and his wife Kay are moving to a home on 4000 square metres, at Templestowe.

Earlier this month, premier John Brumby announced a $128.5m redevelopment of Hamer Hall – prior to 2004, known as the Victorian Concert Hall.

The theatre’s replacement name was in honour of Sir Hamer, an arts and environment advocate, who died four years ago, aged 87, at his Kew home.
