Deloittes to Leave QV, For 550 Bourke Street
The professional services firm will occupy the majority of the space at the 19-level tower at 550 Bourke Street. Due for completion in October 2008, the A Grade building is designed to achieve a 5-star Green Star and 4.5 Star Australian Building Greenhouse Rating.
Since arriving at its current location, QV in Lonsdale Street in 2004, the Melbourne office of Deloitte has almost doubled in size from 787 to 1425 people.
Deloitte Managing Partner in Victoria, John Trotter, said that not being able to secure additional floors in its current location at QV in Lonsdale Street, had necessitated the firm’s pending move.
“Deloitte has been very pleased with QV. However, our growth rate has forced us to move to a building that meets our current staffing needs and provides us with the flexibility to seek more space in the future under one roof, ” Mr Trotter said.
Deloitte will initially occupy the top 12 ½ floors (approximately 18,000 sqm) of the 19 level state-ofthe-art tower. It will have the option to progressively lease a further 4 ½ floors during its 11-year lease. Deloitte will also enjoy exclusive signage and naming rights to the tower.
The building will be linked with the other of Cbus’ office towers at CBW – 181 William Street – by 5500 sq m of shops and cafes. Located at the heart of Melbourne’s financial and legal sector, Deloitte’s new home is two blocks from both Southern Cross and Flagstaff train stations and is serviced by trams on Bourke Street. By retaining its CBD presence, the move is not expected to inconvenience staff or clients.
“As is the case with QV, our people will continue to have access to shops and cafes literally at their doorstep. They will also be close to public transport. And our clients will continue to have access to us in the CBD. We are very pleased with this outcome for both our people and our clients,” Mr Trotter said.
