Church teams with developers for $450m Unilodge
An Anglican congregation is teaming with developers to build one of Australia’s biggest student accommodation towers behind Adelaide’s oldest church.
With an end value of $450 million, 88 North Terrace, as the project has been branded, will rise 31 storeys with 970 student beds.
Construction recently kicked off.
Completion is scheduled in mid-2028.
1835 Property and Marlborough Capital, supported by Trinity Church, are the developers.
In February, realestatesource.com.au reported Sydney-based Journal Student Living acquired its first Adelaide site, at nearby 274-275 North Tce.
Also seven months ago Melbourne’s Wingate, Chris Lock and Les Smith traded the city’s ex-SA Department of Infrastructure and Transport headquarters with plans to convert the 20-storey complex to student accommodation.
Last week we reported Brookfield topped out an asset of this type in Melbourne’s CBD, with 1010 beds.
Unilodge at 88 North Terrace
The 88 North Tce development will restore Trinity Church, the Parish Hall and Delbridge House.
An administration building will be added for the church (continues below).
A public piazza will connect the street to the tower, which will be managed by Unilodge.
More than 95 per cent of the student rooms will be studios with kitchenettes, ensuites and queen-size beds.
The complex will also include a cinema, 24/7 gym, yoga studio, study areas, social lounges, cafe, and communal kitchens.
An outdoor deck will overlook the church buildings.
Anglicans moves out
Trinity’s Anglican congregation has temporarily moved out of the historic precinct while construction takes place
Its final service was on May 3.
The developers say the project will help ease pressure on Adelaide’s private rental market by moving about 1000 students into purpose-built accommodation.
