Christopher Doyle sells new Toorak mansion after two weeks

A Toorak mansion created by architect Christopher Doyle has sold after two weeks.

The Tudor style home at 1 Torresdale Court is understood to be trading for about $8.5 million but this could not be confirmed with the marketing agents, Marshall White’s Marcus Chiminello and Nicole French.

Architect Christopher Doyle found a buyer for 1 Torresdale Court, Toorak, in two weeks.

The property was carrying a guide price of more than $8 million.

Mr Doyle crafted the dwelling using the footprint of an existing and contemporary double-storey structure (pictured, bottom).

That house was owned by entertainer Jason Donovan between 2002 and 2007 – as we reported when 1 Torresdale Court was listed.

Mr Chiminello declined to comment about the specifics of his result – including buyer and price – but of the campaign, said multiple parties showed an interest.

The depth of demand for new Toorak homes has been rising substantially, the broker said, “since the second quarter of this year, as evidenced by the sale of 2 Chastleton Avenue for $13.4 million”.

In May, we reported that a Georgian style home developed by prestige builder Glenn Eagles at 3 Stonnington Place, sold for $9 million to a family downsizing from elsewhere in the suburb.

Last month, Mr Eagles listed another speculatively built and opulently fit-out dwelling at 19 Denham Place, again via Mr Chiminello (pictured below, this four-storey home with three lounge areas, two studies and a gym, is expected to sell for more than $8.3 million).

In March, another prestige builder, Chris Holland, listed a new mansion at 19 Albany Road, Toorak, with price hopes of between $11.5-$12.8 million.

Coincidentally, a home designed then offloaded in 2017 by Mr Holland at 2 Myvore Court, Toorak, hit the market again last month seeking between $27-$29 million.

The developer sold this property to businessman Craig Harwood and his wife Natalie for about $16 million.

The Harwoods then paid about $8 million for a rundown house next door (#3) with a tennis court.

Mr Harwood was actually an under-bidder at a boardroom auction when 2 Myvore Court sold for $19.1 million to Orna Ida, the wife of businessman Yoav Ida – a deal which didn’t proceed.

Earlier this year, a new Aristacan home at 4 Cloverdale Avenue, Toorak, also sold, achieving $7.6 million.
