Brendon Gale banks premium for bayside pad

The Brighton property is understood to have sold for c$6.8 million.

Richmond Football Club chief executive officer and lawyer, Brendon Gale, and his wife, Jane, have sold their Brighton family home for $6.8 million, according to sources.

Brighton’s former Marine Hotel is for sale as a development site.

The speculated result for the c1917 Federation on the corner of New and Elwood streets would be well over the ($6-$6m) guide when it hit the market a month ago.

On 1288 square metres, the home includes six bedrooms, formal and informal lounge and dining rooms and a cigar room.

A near $1m renovation and extension was carried out in 2017.

The Gales purchased the home in October, 2008, for $2.525m.

They were represented for the sale by Buxton’s Stefan Whiting and Kym Williams (story continues below).

Mr Gale played for the Tigers 11 years until 2001.

He was appointed CEO eight years later.

Also in Brighton, last week, we reported the owner of the ex-Marine Hotel put the property up for sale after a surprise lease break late last year.

On an acre near Church St, the block is expected to wind up in the hands of a developer, possibly for a residential based mixed use project.
