Billy Brownless adds another pub to portfolio

The Commun na Feinne has a bistro and TAB gaming.

Former footballer Billy Brownless has added another Geelong pub to his hotel portfolio.

The leasehold of the Commun na Feinne, or The Commo, on a 730 square metre site at the south east corner of Bellerine and Kilgour streets, will be operated with business partners Matt Connell and Andrew Clark.

The vendors, Jack Whiteley and Andrea Hempton, will retain the freehold.

Mr Brownless told the Geelong Advertiser, which is reporting the deal, that South Geelong’s changing demographic was a driver.

The Commo has a bistro and TAB facilities (story continues below).

The lease is for an initial 20 years, starting on September 21.

Elsewhere in Geelong, Mr Brownless and Mr Clarke hold the Wharf Shed Hotel, on Eastern Beach Road, and the Cremorne Hotel in Newtown.

Last week, the sportsman announced he would retire from The Footy Show after 27 years.
