The auctions for the five apartments, the subject of the 14th series of TV show The Block, appear set to take place in the evening of Saturday, October 27, 2018 – with the results to air in a season finale on Sunday, October 28.

Five oversized apartments have been configured into the former rooming house for generations known as The Gatwick Hotel. TV show creator Watercress Productions extended the three-level building by a floor to create the new dwellings.

The apartments carry varying reserve prices (refer our rundown below).

The winning team is judged as the contestant whose dwelling sells for the biggest margin over the reserve. They will bank $100,000 prizemoney, plus the value over the reserve that their apartment sold for.

Channel Seven snared this property for a property-themed reality TV show expected to air next year.

Watercress paid $10 million for the St Kilda hotel at 34 Fitzroy Street in mid-2017.

The producer recently lodged plans to replace the Oslo Hotel in Grey Street, St Kilda, with five terrace homes – as it prepares for its 15th season.

Channel Seven also recently purchased an industrial site in Sydney for  a property-themed reality TV show – paying about $3 million ahead of a scheduled auction.
