The Mont Albert dwellings will be razed for a park.

A Melbourne council has bought three neighbouring homes near a strip retail precinct, to repurpose for a park.

The Whitehorse City Council is speculated to be paying about $5.8 million for 383, 385 and 387 Mont Albert Road, Mont Albert.

Spanning 1820 square metres, the amalgamation contains two villa units and a standalone home.

It is near Mont Albert Village, which council is planning to revamp in the coming two years.

Whitehorse also recently repurposed the former Mont Albert train station as a public space.

Mont Albert and Surrey Hills train stations were replaced in 2023 with a new station mid-way between them, Union.

Buxton’s Leo Xu and Ivy Ye marketed 383-387 Mont Albert Rd.

That property, costing $17m, was previously permitted for a six level apartment complex.
