Aldi to Build 500 More Australian Stores

The company had previously reported it plans to open 25 stores per year.

Last month, Aldi opened its $35 million product development and quality assurance centre in Sydney. It is also building two new distribution centres in New South Wales and Victoria, to cope with the expansion.

Aldi managing director Michael Kloeters had previously said finding appropriate development site was one of the biggest challenges for the company, which opened its first Australian supermarket in 2001.
