Gina Rinehart buys Brisbane HQ for One Nation

One Nation will upsize to a Spring Hill headquarters.

Gina Rinehart has bought a Brisbane office with the politically ascendant One Nation set to part-occupy.

As we reported in August, 160 Wharf Street, Spring Hill, sold for $8 million with a part leaseback to the Australian Post-Tel Institute.

The three storey building contains 947 square metres wth a top floor balcony overlooking the CBD.

There are also 10 car parks.

One Nation will occupy c650 sqm, paying market rent.

It will relocate from Brisbane Airport.

Senator Pauline Hanson’s electoral office remains at Waterfront Place in Brisbane’s CBD.

Colliers’ Luke Hawkins and Hunter Higgins were the agents.

API bought 160 Wharf St in 2003 for $2.4m.

Ms Rinehart is buying the asset through Hancock Prospecting which holds other assets including, in Brisbane, 70 Eagle St, held since 2023 (continues below).

Hancock Prospecting’s Brisbane portfolio includes 70 Eagle Street, acquired in 2023.

No thanks to Labor: One Nation

The move comes as One Nation continues to argue that its parliamentary resources have not kept pace with its growing representation.

The party doubled its Senate representation from two to four at last year’s federal election but did not receive additional personal staff, with modelling putting its allocation at 0.83 staff per parliamentarian, compared with 1.47 for the Coalition and 4.09 for Labor.

Pauline Hanson last month joined independent senator Fatima Payman and independent MP Dai Le to call for an independent system for allocating parliamentary staff, arguing the existing arrangements lack transparency and that the system is broken.

One Nation is also, this year in particular, emerging as a formidable political force nationally, with the latest RedBridge/Accent poll putting it ahead of Labor on the primary vote for the sixth time in six months.

However, if Labor and the Greens are not put last on ballots, the Albanese government will retain a 52-48pc lead on a two-party-preferred basis.

In Victoria, the party this weekend released a 63-page policy platform covering crime, policing, infrastructure, energy, government spending and other state issues, with the document receiving a strong positive reception.
