Ex-Fosters chief lists lux Melbourne apartment

The Marquise at 635 St Kilda Road.

Former Fosters chief executive officer Peter Bartels – who owns the Victorian ‘1’ number plate, speculated to be worth over $10 million – is moving from a full floor St Kilda Road apartment.

More than $4.5m is expected for the 462 square metre suite within the Marquise complex, at #635-643.

The executive and his late wife, Marilyn, paid $2.55m off the plan in 2002.

The 20 level building at the junction of Queens and Punt roads was boutique architect Carr’s first high rise project.

Mr Bartels, 84, directed Fosters from 1985-1992, negotiating to acquire the ‘1’ plate, which that company owned, as part of his severance package (story continues below).

He then led Coles Myer until 1996.

Kay & Burton is marketing the 16th floor St Kilda Rd unit.
