Wheeler’s Hill Elinora Mansion on the Market Again

And so a new chapter for Elinora begins.

The iconic Wheelers Hill mansion, on the high side of Coniston Drive and overlooking the outer eastern suburbs to the Dandenongs, has quite a history for its tender age.

It was built in 1988 by international property developer and antique collector Vernon Yip. When the economy turned on its side in 1992, the bank forced a sale to try and recoup the estimated $10 million it cost to build and furnish the palace. It was quickly snapped up by a doctor and property investor who relocated from Toorak, for around $1.5 million.

The dramatic neo-classical mansion sits unobstructed on one of Wheeler Hill’s highest points and can be seen driving west bound from Ferntree Gully Road. Elinora has also made several appearances on the small screen, most notably Neighbours, Halifax FP and Good Guys, Bad Guys.

Measuring a monstrous 155 squares, Elinora includes 6 bedrooms, 6 bathrooms, a ten car garage, swimming pool, tennis court and entertainment terraces on 2.5 hectares of landscaped grounds. It is expected to sell for more than $3 million when Jellis Craig put it under the hammer later this month.
