Towing company leases prominent hardstand

The ex-Lonely Planet headquarters at 90 Maribyrnong Street, Footscray.

Anytime Towing has leased a prominent ex-Hertz car rental yard at West Melbourne, beside the Shepherd Bridge and Yarra River, also the Footscray suburb border.

The group, which services Melbourne but has focused on the south east, is paying starting annual rent of $200,000 including outgoings for the 3000 square metre predominantly hardstand site at 702-714 Footscray Road, owned by a private investor.

The lease term is five years though options have been built in.

NSL Property Group’s Guy Naselli was the agent.

All roads lead to site

Last occupied by McLeod Rail but years ago, Hertz, 702-714 Footscray Rd is near a bridge taking shape over the Maribyrnong River, part of the West Gate Tunnel project (story continues below).

It is also near Citylink, connecting Anytime Towing to the north and south east, and the Westgate.

“The prime inner west location coupled with the need to expand their site and being only three kilometres to the CBD and moments from Port Melbourne made this West Melbourne property an ideal fit,” Mr Naselli said.

In the immediate area, four years ago, Planum Property paid IP Generation director Chris Lock $33.1m for the ex-Lonely Planet headquarters at 90 Maribyrnong Street, Footscray – a sharp price on the $13.5m previously paid in 2015 by his ex-employer, Impact Investment Group, which also renovated.

Centuria, meanwhile, in 2021 acquired a modern office from the Grollo family, outlaying $223.7m.
