Toorak’s Historic Edzell Mansion to be Restored by New Owner

The 1892 mansion was configured into seven large apartments by its most previous owner, Michael Spivakovsky. In August, it was put up for sale either as a unique investment, or major restoration project.

Well placed sources say Edzell’s new owner – a Toorak local not yet registered on title – will undertake the painstaking task of renovating the 30-plus room mansion to its former glory. Restoration is expected to cost around $5 million.

A recently subdivided 1,000 square metre piece of sunken land at the rear of Edzell’s 6,000 square metre boundary, is also expected to be retained by the new owner.

Jellis Craig director Richard James and Jenny Gillies sold Edzell. They declined to comment on any part of the deal when contacted by Secret Agent.
