de Kerilleau Estate, Wodonga, Hits the Market For The First Time in 88 Years
A HISTORIC homestead, on a 12 hectare estate near the Murray River in Wodonga has hit the market for the first time in 88 years.
The eight-bedroom de Kerilleau mansion, built in 1870, will be auctioned next month after about another 12 hectares – once part of the estate – was subdivided.
Governor Sir Charles Bowen stayed at de Kerilleau in 1873, when the Melbourne to Wodonga railway opened, commemorating the event by planting a Moreton Bay Fig Tree at the estate which still stands.
The property’s sprawling land also includes trees dating from pre-settlement.
