Dexus Proposes Major New Little Collins Street Office, Melbourne

SYDNEY-based fund manager Dexus Property Group has lodged plans to build a 15-level, 25,000 square metre office building on a forecourt behind its prominent 360 Collins Street office tower in the Melbourne CBD – near the popular Zuffa cafe (pictured).

The proposed new development would be bound by Little Collins Street, Briscoe Lane, and Collins Way, and its office occupants would stare down the McKillop Street restaurant and retail strip.

It could go some way to putting Little Collins Street “on the map” as a major corporate boulevard like part-namesake Collins Street.

Skyscraper Proposal Being Reviewed to Replace Russell Street’s Rido House, Melbourne

THE National Museum and State Library buildings could be overshadowed by a 36-level skyscraper proposed for a Russell Street site, opposite the eastern most edge of the historic complex.

The Melbourne City Council says it is reviewing an application which would see the 42-year old Rido House building at 276 – 284 Russell Street, on the south-east corner of Little Lonsdale Street, demolished and replaced with a 117 metre tower of shops, offices and flats.

Unusually, the proposal doesn’t allow for car park bays, suggesting the 154-unit residential component might be better suited (and more easily marketable) as serviced apartments, student accommodation, or both.
