NSW, Vic governments sells development sites

Development Victoria sold the Aurora Southern Town Centre sites last month.

The New South Wales government has sold five adjoining lots just off the Great Western Highway at Stanmore.

Apartments, shops and offices are planned for the Epping sites (marked N and M).

The 1080 square metre amalgamation, 1-9 Cardigan Street (pictured, top), collected $5.3 million ex-GST for Transport for NSW.

Sitting over the Westconnex tunnel, zoned R2 Low Density, able to accommodate a three level building, the land was targeted to residential developers.

Seven bidders contested at auction last week.

Knight Frank’s Demi Carigliano and Anthony Pirrottina were the agents.

Stanmore is about four kilometres south west of Sydney.

This offering is at the Camperdown border, walking distance to the University of Sydney and a kilometre from the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Development Victoria sheds Epping town centre site

Meanwhile Development Victoria is selling the Aurora Southern Town Centre site in Melbourne’s north Epping, sources say, for a speculated $30m.

The 14.1 hectare amalgamation of two parcels was acquired by a syndicate of investors.

Apartments, retail and offices are planned.

Stonebridge’s Julian White, Justin Dowers and Chao Zhang were the agents.

“The sale of Aurora Southern Town Centre marks the second major town centre transaction in Victoria over the past 12 months following the successful divestment of Rockbank Town Centre which our team also managed,” Mr White said.

Mr Dowers added “record population growth over the past two years has significantly outpaced supply, driving heightened interest in well-located, retail and mixed-use development sites like Aurora Southern Town Centre”.

This pocket of Epping is about 26 kilometres from the CBD.
