Site chosen for Sydney’s first AC Hotel by Marriott
Sydney’s first AC Hotel by Marriott will open on six podium floors of a 55 storey tower replacing the Polding Centre, on the south west corner of Castlereagh and Liverpool streets.
Marriott International will team with Trilogy Hotels to operate the 104-room premium facility with a ground floor restaurant and level six ‘skybar’.
Candalepas Associates will design the interiors.
Deicorp is the developer and landlord.
It bought the 1593 sqm c1977 Brutalist Polding Centre from the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney five years ago.
Construction for the new tower, the Hyde Metropolitan, started last month.
The redevelopment will also contain 169 own-your-own apartments.
AC Hotel by Marriott trades from Melbourne’s Southbank. A venue is also scheduled at Surfers Paradise (continues below).
AC Hotel by Marriott comes to Sydney
Trilogy manages 18 Australian hotels.
The Liverpool St venue is due for completion late next year.
The Hyde Metropolitan, set to soar 200 metres, will also contain 302 square metres of retail, 137 car parks and 109 bike bays.
“Partnering with Trilogy Hotels and Marriott International to deliver Sydney’s first AC Hotel reflects our vision for refined elegance and style in the Hyde Park precinct,” Deicorp founder and chairman, Fouad Deiri, said.
The Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney meanwhile last year paid $97 million for a B-grade office adjacent to St Mary’s Cathedral, part to accommodate staff previously based at the Polding Centre.
