Singapore developer secures student accommodation site

The proposed Nedlands tower will rise 19 floors.

Centurion has secured a south west Perth amalgamation with plans for a 19 level student accommodation complex.

The Singapore based developer paid $8.8 million for properties covering 529 square metres: 37-43 Stirling Highway, Nedlands.

Agreed late last year, the purchase was conditional on a permit being issued – which happened May.

Settlement occurred last week.

The project will be branded Dwell on Williams, the site also exposed to Williams Road and Meriwa Street.

Nedlands is about seven kilometres from town.

The deal comes three months since we reported Centurion outlaid nearly $30m for the ex-Victoria Police headquarters, in Melbourne’s Mackenzie St, also with plans for student accommodation.

Cushman & Wakefield’s Daniel Wolman, Oliver Hay and Leon Ma were the agents.

The Nedlands amalgamation cost $8.8 million.

Walking distance to the University of Western Australia’s main campus (pictured, top), Centurion’s proposed tower will contain 472 beds in 460 studios.

Also with a 107 sqm ground floor retail tenancy, resident-only study areas, laundry, lounge and end of trip facilities, 11 basement car parks and 156 bike bays – the end value is expected to circle $60m.

Completion is scheduled next year.

Also in the suburb, one of Perth’s most exclusive, Hall & Prior Health Care recently paid the Loreto Sisters $28.8m for the historic ex-Loreto Primary School with plans to repurpose and occupy as an aged care facility and wellness hub.
