Sammut Group has snapped up an older-style, three storey apartment block opposite Cronulla Beach with plans to replace it with something triple the height.

The 1292 square metre site, 67 Gerrale Street, is costing the Sydney developer $38 million.

A $100m mixed-use complex, with retail, hospitality and about 25 dwellings is mooted.

The property is two holdings from the Ballantyne complex, which also rises nine floors.

Sammut invests again in Cronulla

Cronulla-based Sammut Group is behind several other proposals in the suburb including at 44 Gerrale St, 3-23 Kingsway, 65 The Esplanade, 5-9 Ozone St and 138-142 Cronulla St (story continues below).

Elsewhere in the Sutherland shire it has earmarked a medium density residential project at 696-700 Old Princes Highway, Sutherland.

At Surfers Paradise, the group is hoping to build a high rise at 43 Garfield Terrace.

Knight Frank’s Anthony Pirrottina and Demi Carigliano marketed 67 Gerrale St.

The agents said the sale was one of 12 they concluded last quarter in South Sydney with the total investment at $99.7m.
