Rose Porteous Trades in Another Toorak Upgrade

Socialite Rose Porteous is selling the Irving Road house she downsized to 13 months ago, after undertaking a massive renovation.

The White House, as it is being marketed, was believed to be the fifth Melbourne property purchased by Ms Porteous, who settled in Toorak from Peppermint Grove, Perth, three years ago.

Rose paid just under $5 million for the 3-bedroom plus study home last July. Lindsay Fox’s imposing Eulinya mansion, and the British Consulate building are in the vicinity.

Rose’s first foray into Toorak’s real estate market started in 2005, when she paid close to $3 million for an unrenovated home in Tintern Avenue, near the Toorak Village.

After that she snapped up two adjoining apartments in Clendon Road, then a 5-bedroom mansion in Barnard Road. Each of these properties was sold for substantially more than what she paid.

In Irving Road, Rose is reported to have spent more than $1.5 million on an extensive renovation, which included high end fixtures and fittings, and the construction of a glass lift.

The property is being quoted at $8 million and is available for private sale.

It is not yet known where Rose will move next.
