Packers sell landmark Sydney penthouse

Harry Seidler designed the Horizon in the late 1990s.

Francesca Packer Barham – who turns 30 next month – has sold the penthouse at Darlinghurst’s Harry Seidler designed Horizon tower.

The Horizon penthouse is understood to have sold for nearly $28 million.

Eleven months after hitting the market carrying $32 million price hopes, the heiress is understood to have accepted a c15 per cent discount, from an as yet undisclosed buyer.

Ms Packer paid Melbourne eye specialist Dr Glen Fernando and his wife, Julie Graham, $15.8m in 2019.

That price reflected a discount too – it was asking $16.5m.

That seller also undertook a swank renovation of the 535 sqm unit occupying all of level 40, at 184 Forbes Street.

Highlands Double Bay’s David Malouf and Harry Schier were the agents.

Ms Packer-Barham is the daughter of Gretel Packer and granddaughter of Ros and the late Kerry Packer (story continues below).

Packers trade another apartment

The Horizon penthouse was previously owned by luxury car dealer Neil Sutton and before that, property investor and developer, Bob Ell.

Capturing 360 degree views, the unit contains five bedrooms, five bathrooms, a media room and wine room. The offering also includes eight car parks.

The disposal comes 18 months since Gretel Packer paid $9m for a two bedroom apartment in Potts Point’s Art Deco Macleay Regis building, neighbouring another unit the complex she owned.

In July meanwhile, Gretel Packer outlaid $25.85m for an Art Deco theatre in the suburb – The Minerva – once owned by George Miller and before that, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
