Nestle lists redundant Tongala tinned milk factory

The Tongala offering includes a water treatment plant.

A soon-to-be-vacated northern Victorian industrial property where vendor Nestle for years made tinned milk is for sale.

The Tongala offering comprises five titles, covers 78.2 hectares and includes plant and equipment.

The seller announced last year that it would shut the facility; it is expecting to empty out by February.

For more than a decade Nestle manufactured Maggi food at the 23,009 square metre processing plant which includes its own water treatment plant.

Nestle Health Science and Milo Ready to Drink products were also created there.

Manufacturing of these products is set to be moved overseas (story continues below).

For sale as a whole or in part

Tongala is about 20 kilometres south east of Echuca in Victoria’s Goulburn Valley – where the dairy industry is a major employer. It is 225kms north of Melbourne.

CBRE marketing agents Rory Hilton, Chris O’Brien and Ben Hegerty are marketing the Nestle sites – 1-65 and 85 Bosse Road – in one line or individually.

The offering includes a 51.3ha farm with a four bedroom house and paddocks servicing the water treatment plant, which is being promoted as a lifestyle property.

It also contains a two level office and warehouse.

Nestle has manufactured tinned milk and Maggi products at Tongala.
